In moments of grief, a nation reveals its soul. The passing of a former Head of State is not just a political event — it is a mirror reflecting who we are, and who we must strive to become.
Zambia is hurting, but our pain must not divide us. We only have one Zambia. One flag. One anthem. One identity. As a people who know God, this must be a time to pause, reflect, and embrace the spirit of reconciliation. Let political battles fall silent. Let tribal divisions dissolve. Let our differences — whether political, personal, regional, or religious — bow before the greater calling of unity.
If you have wronged someone, apologise. If you were wronged, forgive. That is not weakness; it is strength. Those who carry hate in their hearts, even for the dead, are not our concern — God will judge them. Their conscience will haunt them. Posterity will remember their cruelty.
But we, the children of this soil, must chart a new path. A path paved with love, maturity, and compassion. For if we cannot mourn as one people, how then shall we ever rise as one nation?
Let peace begin with us. Let healing begin now.
